Our Lady of Sorrows School

     Our Lady of Sorrows School is restoring the vision of excellence in education with reverence, respect, responsibility, reading, writing, and arithmetic.  Our Lady of Sorrows School will continue to carry on the strong legacies of quality education for Kindergarten through Eighth Grades.

     OLS not only is teaching the basics. Core subjects are taught daily, including Religion, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.  Specialists instruct children of all grades in Art, Computer, Music, Physical Education, and Library.  The Band regularly receives high accolades for accomplishments evident through outstanding performances.  Students work at instructional levels with appropriate challenges for them.  For students with learning difficulties or differences, a learning consultant helps meet their needs within the regular classroom.  Honors classes are available for students with high ability in Mathematics, Writing, and Band.  Primary has ability grouping for reading and math.

     OLS has a fully certified faculty dedicated and experienced, using best practice methodologies that incorporate traditional as well as innovative instructional techniques.  Technology is in abundance with Smartboards, computers in classrooms, a computer lab, and full resources of the Internet through a local area network.

     OLS continues it’s dedication after the bell.  Some of the many activities that take place before or after school include:  foreign language classes, competitive speech leagues, drama club, math competition teams, book club, latchkey, tutoring, scouts, sports, chess club and classes, homework helper, Pro Life Club and parish performances.  These extra-curricular programs help round out the full educational program.

     OLS has leadership opportunities abound for students at all levels.  Family group activities allow students to work with students of all age levels, acknowledging and celebrating the gifts and talents of others.  Student Ambassadors are trained to represent our school to the community, often serving as hosts, tour guides, or administrative assistants.
